Monument Paríž – Roubaix opäť nesklamal. Epické divadlo prinieslo nečakané pódium. Boli tam traja debutanti na pretekoch. z víťazstva sa napokon radoval Sonny Colbrelli (TBV), Talian od Tour de France disponuje skvelou formou. Druhý bol Florian Vermeersch (:lts:). Mladík z Belgicka tak ukázal svoj veľký potenciál. Ku gratulantom sa pridal i legendárny Philippe Gilbert (:lts:). Bronzový bol Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix), ktorý v závere už nemal síl. V cieli po celodennom martýriu bezvládne ležal na zemi. Priebeh pretekov pripomínal bojový film. Jazdcom išlo doslova o život, keď v ťažkých podmienkach padali jeden za druhým.
Svoje by o tom mohol povedať Gianni Moscon (:ins:). Talian bol v závere v dobrej pozícii, keď mal minútu na skupinu okolo Van der Poela. Rodák z Trenta však najprv dostal defekt, ktorý ho pripravil o polovicu náskoku. O niekoľko kilometrov neskôr skončil na zemi a bolo po nádeji. Paríž – Roubaix pripravili o sen nejedného cyklistu v pelotóne, no trojica na pódiu tam bola zaslúžene. Víťazné trio malo pred podujatím v kolónke štartov dohromady nulu, čo bolo taktiež prekvapením.
